Tournament Rules

Player slots are limited and can become full prior to the tournament day. Pre-registration is encouraged either online or at the venue.

Your registration is complete with payment of the registration fee.

Day of the tournament

Registration begins promptly at 2 pm and will remain open until the start of the first bracket or 3 pm. 

Once the tournament begins each competitor will be assigned a machine and an opponent. 

This is double elimination which means if any player loses 2 rounds they are removed from the tournament.

Every round is Best of 3 except the finals which are the best of 5.

All attendees and players consent to being photographed during the event. Photos and videos captured during the event will appear online, social media and apart of future advertising packages.

GAME PLAY RULES

These are the “Game Play Rules” governing how the Title Game is played during the Tournament.

Rounds: First to Two wins

Timer: 90 seconds

Match Procedure

The following steps outline the process of playing a Match.

  1. Players select their sides.
  2. Players select their characters.
  3. The Players play the first Game of the Match.
    1. If a Mercy is performed, the Game outcome is delayed and the result afterwards are then official.
  4. The losing Player of the preceding Game may choose to change characters.
  5. The next Game is played.
  6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 for all subsequent Games until the Match is complete.

Players may mutually agree who plays on the left and right side, corresponding to Player 1 and Player 2 respectively. If Players cannot agree, the higher seeded player picks their side.

Permitted Controllers

All standard fight sticks and controllers are permitted. Macro functions (e.g. turbo buttons) are not permitted.

Match Obligations

Punctuality

All Players must be physically present by the Match start time. Players that are not ready to play within ten (10) minutes of the Match start time are subject to penalties including a possible Match forfeiture.

Match Disruptions

Pauses

If a Player either intentionally or accidentally pauses the Game by either pressing the start button or unplugging his or her opponent’s controller, the Player who paused forfeits the current Game.

Restarts

Tournament Organizers may order a Game or Match restart due to exceptional circumstances, such as if a bug significantly affects a Player’s ability to play or a Game or Match is unable to finish.

Stalling

Stalling, or excessively delaying the Game or Match, may result in a Game or Match forfeit at the discretion of Tournament Organizers.

Cheating

Any cheating, as determined by the Tournament Organizers in their sole discretion, will result in immediate forfeiture and additional penalties depending on the severity of the infraction.
