As combatants settled in you can read the energy in the room. There were your crew players, a few boisterous cocky players and the ones who came in and said absolutely nothing. This was a kid friendly environment, but there were no children competing, only warriors. The first round of brackets humbled a few of them and the following had a couple wishing they had took this more seriously from jump. One of the shining stars was “JDub A Goat” who went undefeated all the way into the finals. The second was “XRMex” who had an amazing climb out of the losers bracket back into the finals.

The Finals

Midway through the losers bracket the tournament suffered a couple dropouts. This resulted in “XRMex” competing in 2 back to back matches that his secured victories placed him in the final match against “JDub Ah Goat”. In the finals it was still double elimination rules and it was the best of 5 instead of 3 during previous matches.  These 2 pulled no punches. They answered each others win with another one until we were in the 5th round. This round was so intense but “XRMex” pulled out the victory. As he began to celebrate he noticed the room was confused. He had celebrated too soon and forgot this was double elimination with an undefeated opponent, there’s one more match.”XRMex” requested a short break to gather his bearings. Once he returned, “XRMex” swept the finals with 3 straight wins and secured the official victory over the entire Rumble Pit Tournament.
