Enter a universe where more than anything can happen. Just think about Luffy from One Piece going toe-to-toe with the Mighty Frieza from Dragon Ball Z and just as the battle reaches a stalemate, Ichigo strikes down Frieza with his Zanpakuto. If that weren’t extreme enough try Yugi from Yugioh battling Gaara of the Desert from Naruto. Team Max@Play was granted an opportunity to enjoy the smooth gameplay of Jump Force. This 3D fighter is the Marvel vs Capcom of the Anime world combining protagonist from over a dozen different anime equipped with original voice acting and super powered summons and transformations. The biggest difference in this and your typical fighters is the fan service being delivered. The game focuses highly on each animated series, at least based on the beta, rather than a well balanced game. As each character takes damage they are pushed closer to there next available transformation or power up. For example, Goku doesn’t start a match as a super saiyajin but as he takes damage will be able to unlock that ability and turn the tide. That also goes to say once you have went super saiyajin and if you continue to take a beating, Goku can then go God mode. With each transformation fighters acquire a significant power and speed boost as well as moves associated with that scenario. The biggest drawback we’ve noticed is losing yourself behind the giant attacks. Just like in the anime, a lot of the power moves can be defended against in some way whether it is dodging, guarding or response attack. The cinematic in showing these big moves usually leaves the other person hidden from camera view and trying to guess as in what direction they need to run. The release date is set for Feb 15, 2019 and we’re looking forward to seeing what the final product will look like. Stay tuned for more on this and other games coming soon!
