Welcome to Throwback Thursday! Today we are traveling back to an appropriately named Super Nintendo game, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. This classic game came bundled with SNES in 1992 and took the Zelda series back to its top-down roots. This game is a timeless marvel responsible for influencing gaming and pop culture on so many levels. The soundtrack can be heard in a plethora of movies and other video games letting you know how loved this game is to the community. It’s graphically beautiful even by today’s standards letting you know that after 25 plus years Link ages very well. The story is one we are all familiar with when you think of Zelda games. Princess Zelda sends you a message telepathically saying she has been captured by Agahnim as part of a plot to release the evil wizard Gannon by breaking the seal of the seven wise men.

You are Link, well in this game you can be named whoever you want since technically Link is an unnamed hero in this game. As Link you’re now set out on your journey to explore, gain The Master Sword, beat the baddies and save Hyrule. The world itself is huge and well detailed with every area having a life of its own. The enemies and bosses you encounter here became the inspiration for their predecessors. Looking down the line, you can see how some elements have become mainstays for the franchise. Really, how would your experience be if you didn’t hear that iconic chime when you opened a treasure chest? If you are given the opportunity to play this amazing classic game please do. You will not be disappointed. Like most of the throwback games, we feature you can play this game at any stage of your video game life and enjoy. Once you have completed, or for some of us re-visted, this world then check out Earthbound.
