Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order – Before You Buy

A look at the latest Ultimate Alliance

Title: Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3

Platform: Nintendo Switch

Genre: Action Adventure Brawler

Players: 1-4

Developer: Team Ninja

Welcome back fellow gamers! We are finally being treated to another installment of Marvel’s Ultimate Alliance. It’s been over 10 years since the last one and Team Max@Play is totally pumped to jump back in to this multiplayer arena. First of all we want to highlight the fact that this game features both local and online multiplayer. In a time where you have to have the internet to play with friends, it’s refreshing to have a game where everyone can sit on one couch and play. This adds to Nintendo’s growing hold on the couch party arena, think Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros, Mario Party etc. The story goes as expected with MCU characters on the hunt for the Infinity Stones. Fortunately this isn’t a mirror of the Marvel Cinematic Universe but it does give a few nods to that. Ultimate Alliance features characters from every aspect of Marvel as a whole and gives realistic back stories for why this particular set are involved in this part of the plot at this moment. If you’re unfamiliar with the series, Ultimate Alliance is an action adventure brawler, think Double Dragon with the Avengers, where your team of heroes battle hordes of villains using a variety of attacks including duo and full team attacks depending whose in your party. For each scenario you’ll be introduced to different characters, some that will be added to your roster. One of the biggest attention grabbers for Team Max@Play is your ability to mash up so many different Marvel Characters to fight with. It’s totally within reason to have Thor, Spider-Man, Luke Cage and Deadpool on one team. With such an awesome line up, you must imagine what the team up attacks are going to look like when you start mix and matching teams. Your team selection can impact what kind of buffs your party has such as having the Original Avengers will grant one boost and having an all female team would grant a different boost. As well as team boost, heroes level up during combat gaining points that can be spent to enhance their abilities. You can pick and choose what direction you want to grow your team. We are excited to see this game make its return. We just wish it was available on all consoles instead of being a Nintendo Exclusive.

Who is your dream team if you can have any 4 characters fighting with you in the Marvel Universe? Let us know in the comment section below.
