My Daemon (Anime)

Post Apocalyptic Japan meets Pokemon 

Welcome back fellow anime lovers! The setting starts in post apocalyptic Japan and a world managing a life with Daemons, creatures with unique abilities and attributes.  A young kindhearted boy named Kento has been raising his own Daemon named Anna. Their love for each other is not mirrored by the rest of the Japan who consider these creatures abominations and evil.

Before we continue, beware of minor spoilers!

Team Max@Play found “My Daemon” just surfing the Netflix New Release section and without watching any trailers we began.  The first few minutes into it almost lost this audience. The voice acting was missing something, in the English dub, and took away from the opening experience.  Happily,  the voice acting got better, but we definitely recommend subs.  If you switch Kento with Ash Ketchum and Anna with Pikachu this becomes dark Pokemon.  The plot has heroes being confronted by other Pokemon trainers,  whoops, we mean Daemon users, and a variety of human groups that want to capture or kill them. 

Overall,  the story is decently written and kept us hooked till the end.  The action scenes were eye catching and if you keep comparing it to Pokemon you’ll find yourself in awe of how events unfold.  Being 13 episodes long, you can binge this in 1 or 2 sessions.  Team Max@Play recommends this anime.  Enjoy and thanks for visiting Max@Play.
