Spider-Man Out of the MCU

Hello fellow moviegoers! The Marvel Cinematic Universe takes a heavy blow as it is announced that Spider-Man will no longer be a part of the MCU. Sony and Disney had a previous arrangement so that Spider-Man, who is owned by Sony, could appear in the Avengers movies, which are produced by Disney. Each studio kept their own box office earnings but with Spider-Man’s box office success with Far From Home, do greatly in part to his appearance in the Avengers films, Sony made a power move and went for a contract that would give the companies a 50/50 interest in the Spider-Man property. Sony declined and this has resulted in the next 2 movies being canned. With this divorce happening on the height of your friendly neighborhood spiders rise what are we to expect for good future?

Here’s the statement in full courtesy Gizmodo:

Much of today’s news about Spider-Man has mischaracterized recent discussions about Kevin Feige’s involvement in the franchise. We are disappointed, but respect Disney’s decision not to have him continue as a lead producer of our next live action Spider-Man film. We hope this might change in the future, but understand that the many new responsibilities that Disney has given him—including all their newly added Marvel properties—do not allow time for him to work on IP they do not own. Kevin is terrific and we are grateful for his help and guidance and appreciate the path he has helped put us on, which we will continue.
