Penguicon
Penguicon is a three day nonprofit science fiction and technology convention at the Westin hotel in Southfield, MI. This year’s event is themed The Year of Artificial Intelligence. Events and panels surround open source software, programming, circuits, system administration technology, science, eco/green, literature, costuming, web comics, film, anime and after dark events.
Special Guests are:
Ann Leckie winner of the Hugo, Nebula, and Arthur C. Clarke Awards for her novel Ancillary Justice, about a space ship AI that finds itself in a human body.
Catherynne M. Valente a New York Times Bestselling author of fantasy and scifi. Her most recent release, Radiance, is a decopunk pulp SciFi althistory space opera mystery.
Deb Nicholson an activist with the Free Software Foundation, Community Outreach Director for the Open Invention Network, and board member for Open Hatch.
Ann Lemay Game writer for Bioware and Ubisoft, and author of The Game Narrative Toolbox.
Sirius (our “Hack of Honor”) An Open Source intelligent personal assistant that can handle speech recognition, image matching, natural language processing and a typical questionandanswer system, Sirius is developed by Clarity Lab under the supervision of professors Jason Mars and Lingjia Tang.
